38 Chinese hackers charged | Metro

THE National Bureau of Investigation yesterday filed charges against 38 Chinese for alleged involvement in cyber crimes.

The suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 8484, or an act regulating the issuance and use of access devices and prohibiting their fraudulent use.

The Chinese were arrested on July 20 in a twin raid on 421 Orbit Street, Aeropark, Don Bosco, Better Living Subdivision, and on Galatia Street, Multinational Village, both in Paranaque City.

The raids were based on a warrant signed by Parañaque Judge Jaime Guray.

Reports said suspects hacked credit card accounts  to  purchase goods online and transferring money to their account through Paypal.

The suspects also put up false advertisement of goods online for victims to purchase.

Once the victim paid for the item, no goods would be delivered.
